There are no plans currently to write a user space AHCI driver. We don't expect
SATA/AHCI devices to ever be fast enough to warrant moving away from using the standard
kernel drivers. Instead, I recommend you use Linux AIO (if you are on Linux), which
provides an asynchronous interface for sending I/O but uses the kernel storage stack.
