thanks for the update. I've linked to the old versions of the manual,
though since this is a wiki you could also have done the same. :-)
There is also the larger question is whether these old manual versions
should be moved from
wiki.old.lustre.org into some new location in
wiki.lustre.org?
Yes. Ken Rawlings is leading a migration effort for all of wiki.old.
The effort is being tracked here:

We generally try to make it clear in the new manual when
some feature is relevant to a new version of Lustre, so the question to
the list is whether anyone even cares about the 1.6 or 1.8 versions of the
manual anymore? I highly doubt anyone is still using Lustre 1.6, and only
a small number of sites are using 1.8.
