I was able to get lester to work on RHEL5.5 with the latest e2fsprogs from Intel/Whamcloud

Unless something has changed recently, you usually need to download the latest e2fsprogs
from the lustre download site.

Thank you for your response. I am trying to build this on a RHEL 5.5 and am not able to.
It requires updated automake, autoconf etc., hence I even tried to
build it on RHEL 6.4 and it fails requiring (ext2fs >= 1.42.7 com_err >= 1.42.7)
Whereas the e2fsprogs on RHEL6.4 is 1.41.12.
This should be very simple, Am I missing something here?

Yes, 'lester -A lsost -a $OSTNUM -o $OUTFILE $MDTBLOCKDEV' should do the trick.
The sheer amount of time it took to do this in the past is one of the prime motivations
