OpenSFS Survey 2013
by Hamilton, Pam
Dear Lustre Community,
The OpenSFS Community Development Working Group has launched a second survey for organizations using Lustre. We are looking for trends in Lustre usage to assist with future planning on releases and will present the results at LUG.
Please complete this short survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/LWQC8LM) to make sure your organization's voice is heard!
Response to the survey is due by February 28th. Note that all questions are optional so it is ok to submit a partially completed survey if you prefer not to disclose some information.
Best regards,
Pam Hamilton

Lustre 2.1: MDS and OSS on the same node
by Sebastian Wasilewski
Dear all,
I am building a small Lustre installation (3 storage nodes, 20
clients). I have been wondering whether it is safe to have MDS and OSS
on the same node? I am mostly concerned about data integrity /
deadlocks during a normal Lustre operation.

Predicting Lustre I/O Rates
by Michael McManus
Does anyone have a software tool or have a mathematical formula to predict/estimate Read/Write rates on a Lustre system?
I have a specific OSS design, a selected hard disk type, a specific MDS node design, and the size of the pipe between the compute nodes, MDS node and the OSS nodes.
What other factors am I missing? RAID controller information?
I am using CentOS 6.3 with Lustre 2.3.
Thanks

Contribution to the Lustre Manual
by Avadhani Jonnavithula
Hi
My colleague and I work at the University of Florida, High Performance
Computing Center and we have been working with LNET Routing for the past
couple of months, and we wanted to document what we have come across so far
into the Lustre Documentation project.
So I wanted some help in getting started. Mainly, I wanted to know if I can
just download the documentation from github, follow the procedure and push
it back for review or do I need to contact the concerned bug owner for a
particular topic, or do I need to assign a bug to myself in the bug tracker
and then start working on it?

Re: [HPDD-discuss] Lustre 2.1
by Mark Woolfson
Hello,
Can you please tell me which versions of RHEL 6.3 on an Intel platform are compatible with lustre 2.1. Also, are there any installation documentation for the above.
Regards,
Mark Woolfson

It has been tested by Extenci and proved it made kerberized client stable. This will make kerberized client usable without patching & rebuilding. I guess these changes do not affect unkerberized build.

This appears to just be a bug fix and not any kind of new feature request. The problem was that the patch is attached to the bug (where nobody will look at it) instead of in Gerrit.
I've updated the bug with a link to the patch submission process wiki page, and hopefully the patch will be updated and submitted to Gerrit by one of the interested parties in a timely manner for inclusion into 2.4.
Cheers, Andreas

Hi Alex
Yes the CDWG would be a great forum to raise such matters. Xyratex
regularly attend these calls and so will be able to bring this up when
they feel that this work is ready to push upstream. Given that this is
only now being raised for the first time it is clearly be too late for 2.4
but perhaps it will be an option for 2.5
